First, who am I ?
My name is Nelson Lee Walker, 85 years old,
retired from working 60 hrs/wk most of my life
in manufacturing engineering, graduated from the
Cooper Union Night School of Engineering in 1947.
In other words, an ex-working stiff !
Happily married for 53 years to Schottie,
we have 3 kids, long gone, and 5 grandkids.
During my retirement, I started paying more attention to politics, and came
to the conclusion that Congress is fundamentally corrupt, on BOTH SIDES
OF THE AISLE, doing whatever it takes to stay in power, maximize perks,
benefits, and assure reelection, all while the neglecting the good of the country.
Politics, conducted by “professional career politicians” has become obscene !
Do you realize that incumbents are reelected over 98% of the time ? Tenure corrupts!
I believe this can only be corrected by cutting short all political terms and getting
a “citizen congress” of ordinary people who are willing to serve briefly, then
return to the private sector!
What am I trying to do ?
I believe that one way to make things happen is to create an email list of all the people
who agree that Congress should be term limited (and there are lots of us ! ) When the list
is long enough, we will alert everybody during the six months before the next election
(every two years), to email their Congresspeople, their newspapers, talk radio, bloggers,
and friends, demanding that Congress pass a Congressional Term Limits Amendment.
And incidentally, NEVER REELECT any congressional incumbents until we get Term Limits !
If it is done effectively, we will create a news event that cannot be ignored.
